What’s In The Mirror

Reflection can be a powerful source of the truth. The pace of life and the distractions at play mean we devote much less time to thinking about our behaviours, thoughts, attitude or motivations. We are living unexamined lives. Looking within ourselves and within our teams is an important part of great performance. It takes courage to ask ourselves honest questions. What happened, why did it happen and how can I/we improve for next time are necessary inquiries to reflect on if we want to become better. Introspection can be hard, it can hurt when we don’t meet at own expectations, but with a mindset of growth and development, reflection will help us address mistakes, acknowledge inefficiencies and develop better plans to improve performance. Instead of sweeping things ‘under the carpet’ or hoping problems ‘magically go away’ we can learn to recognise and then strategise for greater results, through the process of reflection.
