The Lighthouse Keeper

A lighthouse is a strong and supportive structure that helps guide us along a journey. They consist of a lamp, a lens and a fuel source that work to produce, guide and amplify light on the dangers that can hinder progression. A lighthouse needs a Lighthouse Keeper. The Keeper must make sure the lamp continues to burn and the lens continues to rotate. It’s often a tough and unrelenting role, but one of great importance for the ‘safe passage’ of the team. It is for this reason that having more than one Leader or Manager is vital, so that the lamp burns and the lens turns. We must learn to share the responsibility of selflessness together. Share in the mistakes when the ship occasionally hits the reef and share in the success of seeing the ship cruising on by in the calm blue water. Leadership and Management are lifestyle choices and vital for teams to remain cohesive and on track in the face of rocks and reef.
